Sending you my love up front. No one works harder than you or has a more challenging job. Thank you.
You are busy so thanks for reading this super-short summary of Scotty the Snail. I wrote it for grandson Miles when he was three.
Scotty's goal was to run faster than his friends Robert the Rabbit & Sammy the Squirrel.
"Why is that a silly idea?" I asked little Miles.
"Because snails are sooo slow. Poor Scotty," he said.
"Let's see."
Ten pages and too many words later, Scotty discovers that "slow" is best. He was the only one who smelled the flowers, found beauty in clouds. He had lots of friends because he was the only one who listened.
Just a kids book, obviously. We both are busy. Not sure why I still think faster is better. It never helps those silly dogs to catch their tails.
Thank you for being Scotty to your patients with your presence and a rabbit in their emergencies. You are a gift!
You know that none of the important stuff can be caught. Chasing Love is a Fool's race.
Remember that time I took mushrooms & saw magic because they made me slow down? I got the message. And later ignored it like a Sunday sermon.
My antidote is meditation. It calms my spirit 100% of the time. If only I would practice it!:-)
Meanwhile, little Miles is eighteen! He always seemed mature but too laid back.
Guess what? He got into Harvard.
He became Scotty. His grandfather is mostly a rabbit.
Love,
Erie
