Energy & will power are deeply important human strengths. Yet the three major monotheistic faiths: Judaism, Christianity & Islam preach surrender to God. This is the reason members of each faith bow to God in prayer, Moslems offering themselves prostrate five times a day. Surrender is difficult if we're confused about the meaning of God.
Difficulty arises if we choose to pit our will against God's Love. If you believe that God is Love, then, as a caregiver, you are joining Love's current as it flows through the world. The sea has caught my ketch
in her cross-thatch
of longitudes & latitudes.
I pitch and yaw toward her horizon,
struggle for air amid the power of
her waves.
A short-long time later, I’m still netted
in her weave of warp and woof
fighting with all my might.

Was Calvin right?
Is it all for-ordained?
Or is it time for me to choose
Love’s currents & let them take me
where they will?
